Spring has sprung – is your car ready?

by | Mar 21, 2016

flowersSpring is the perfect time of the year to start your important auto maintenance. Whether external or internal fixes need to occur, the warm weather and sunshine can help get anyone in the mood to get their car back driving to optimal performance and looking great.  At least in Arizona’s winters you don’t have to deal with salt on the roadways – just maybe a little muck here and there. Either way, preventative maintenance and auto repairs should be done before the season’s road trips, vacations and hitting the open road commences. The last thing you need is to interrupt your road trip with a breakdown on the side of the road. Vacation money all too often turns into car repairs when you skip the routine maintenance on your vehicle.

A recent article from ASE and Car Care discusses the serious misfortune of breakdowns when you’re on your way to a well-deserved vacation. Maybe you didn’t have a warning that something was wrong, or maybe you did and you ignored it (we’re all guilty), when you’re stuck on the side of the road instead of poolside, you’ll wish you had your routine maintenance done beforehand. ASE has some helpful recommendations to get your vehicle summer-ready.

Start by reading your owner’s manual and follow the recommended service interval schedules. If you notice hard starts, rough idling or stalling, have this corrected before the weather gets too hot. Flush and refill the cooling system radiator according to the service manual’s recommendations. The level, condition, and concentration of the coolant should be checked periodically. You’ll want to have this preventative maintenance done by a qualified auto repair shop. Have your trusted auto repair mechanic check the tightness and the condition of your belts, clamps and hoses. Change the oil, oil filter, and replace other filters all as recommended. Then, of course, you’ll want to check the condition, pressure and tread of your tires. This includes the spare! Lastly, inspecting bulbs, lights, wiper blades and fluids can help you battle dust, dirt and bugs which all come with springtime and summer driving.

Contact our auto repair shop today for your preventative maintenance services and get your vehicle ready for spring! A little work today means a lot more fun this summer!
